John Cheer

John was born in 1966 in Communist China and raised in Shanghai and Peking. He immigrated with his family to California at the age of 13. In 1991, he relocated to northeast Pennsylvania where he presently lives. In 1993 he became a full-time clay artist, selling his work at fine art and craft shows throughout the country. His early work was traditional and functional, gradually evolving over the years into decorative and abstract contemporary. The majority of finished pieces combine fused clay and glass. In recent years, he has added copper wire to some creations. HIs unique style showcases an inherent flow and spirituality throughout his work.
