Wendy Olson lives in River Falls, Wisconsin where she and her husband Jay Jensen have a studio. She teaches ceramics full time at Inver Hills Community College in Inver Grove Heights, MN. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and her Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics from Kent State University in Ohio.
She describes her work as layers of shapes, images, narrative, and meaning. With these layers come ideas of duality: past and present, good and bad luck, good and evil, and duality and balance as they exist in people, animals, and in life. Wendy’s use of animals in her work started with encounters with real animals in the woods near her home, and her own animals.
